Description
Ulugh Beg's "Book of Fixed Stars" – Science Meets Art in Golden Constellations
In the 15th century, the prince and astronomer Ulugh Beg commissioned one of the most beautiful celestial books in history: the "Book of Fixed Stars." Based on the work of the Persian scholar Al-Sufi, it combines centuries-old astronomical observations with remarkable precision – and breathtaking aesthetics.
74 artistically illuminated miniatures depict the constellations in radiant gold and delicate pastel tones, complemented by calligraphic inscriptions. Each constellation appears twice: once as seen from Earth and once from the perspective of the cosmos.
A masterpiece from Samarkand that unites science and art in fascinating harmony – and continues to captivate to this day.
